How To Apply Mascara
Share
Tools You Will Need
- A good quality mascara.
- A mirror.
- Optional: Eyelash curler.
Preparation
- Start with clean eyes.
- Make sure there is no old makeup on the eyelashes.
Optional Curling:
- Some people like to use an eyelash curler to give their lashes a nice curve.
- If someone chooses to do this, now is the time.
Open the Mascara:
- Take the mascara wand out of its tube.
- Be careful not to pump the wand in and out, which can add air bubbles.
Get Ready:
- Hold the mascara wand in one hand and a mirror in the other.
- Come close to the mirror so it's easy to see every eyelash.
Start at the Base:
- Place the mascara wand at the base of the top eyelashes.
- Make sure the wand touches the skin lightly.
- This is the starting point for the windshield wiper motion.
The Windshield Wiper Motion:
- Move the wand in a zig-zag motion from the base of the lashes to the tips. Imagine a windshield wiper on a car and how it moves back and forth to clear the rain.
- The wand should move like that but on the eyelashes.
Cover All Lashes:
- Keep doing the windshield wiper motion until all the top eyelashes are covered with mascara.
- Take your time to make sure no lash is left behind.
Bottom Lashes:
- If someone wants to put mascara on the bottom lashes, they can.
- Just use the tip of the mascara wand and gently swipe it across the bottom lashes.
Second Coat
If one coat of mascara doesn't seem enough, wait for a minute to let it dry. Then, do another windshield wiper motion coat.
Clean Up:
Sometimes, mascara can smudge or get on the skin. Use a clean cotton swab to remove any mistakes.
And that's it! The windshield wiper motion makes sure the mascara covers all lashes evenly. It's a simple but effective way to make the eyes stand out. A drag performer can use this method to create a dramatic and captivating look.
