Identify the Color Corrector You Need
Green Corrector
- Use a green corrector to neutralize redness.
- This is ideal for concealing red pimples, rosacea, or areas with excessive red tones.
- Suppose you have a noticeable red pimple on your chin. In that case, you will use a green corrector to counteract the redness before applying the foundation.
Orange Corrector
- These shades help cancel out blue or purple undertones.
- They're excellent for concealing dark under-eye circles or bluish skin discoloration.
- A peach or orange corrector can counteract the bluish tones if dark circles are under your eyes.
Lilac (Lavender or Purple) Corrector
- The lilac corrector can neutralize yellow undertones on fair skin.
- Lilac corrector works well for sallow or dull-looking skin.
- If you have fair skin with a yellowish tint, a lilac corrector can help balance it.
Prep Your Skin
Start with clean, moisturized skin
- Apply your regular primer or base before using a color corrector.
- This creates a smooth canvas for the corrector to adhere to.
- Imagine you're painting a canvas; start with a clean surface and a primer to help the paint adhere better.
Application Techniques
Green Corrector
- Using a small makeup brush or your fingertip, apply a small amount of green corrector directly onto the areas with redness.
- If you have redness around your nose, apply the green corrector there.
Orange Corrector
- Dab a small amount of peach or orange corrector under your eyes or on any other areas with bluish or purple undertones.
- For under-eye circles, lightly pat the peach or orange corrector to cancel out the blue tones.
- Also works great as a bear cover-up.
Lilac Corrector
- Apply lilac corrector to any areas with yellow or sallow undertones.
- If you have a sallow complexion, gently apply the lavender corrector where needed.
Blend
Blend Thoroughly
- Blend the corrector into the skin using a makeup sponge, brush, or fingertip until it's seamlessly integrated.
- Imagine you're softly blending the corrector into your skin like an artist smoothing paint on a canvas.
Foundation and Concealer
- After applying the corrector, proceed with your regular foundation and concealer routine.
- The corrector will create a balanced base, making your makeup look flawless.
- Once you neutralize the redness or dark circles, apply your foundation as usual. Use concealer to further perfect the look.
Set with Powder
- To ensure the corrector stays in place, lightly dust the translucent setting powder over the corrected areas.
- This step also helps prevent creasing.
- Imagine setting the corrected areas with a gentle sweep of setting powder.
Color correction can be a game-changer in achieving a flawless, even-toned base for your makeup. Understanding which colors to use and following these steps can effectively address specific skin concerns and create a stunning transformation.
